About Us
John R. Marks, IV received his B.S. degree in 1999 from Harvard University and his Juris Doctorate in 2003 from Columbia University. He is a member of the Florida bar. Currently, he serves as Instructor and Chair of the Master’s in Information Technology program at Florida State University’s College of Information. He teaches information policy, legal research, web programming, communications, and project management. His career has focused on the social implications of internet broadband and new media technologies.
John R. Marks, lll, the former Mayor of Tallahassee, FL (2003-2014), is the managing principal in the law firm of Marks and Marks, LLC. which focuses its practice on inter-governmental relations, utility regulation, telecommunications, internet and media technology. Marks served eight years on the Florida Public Service Commission and is Founder and Chairman of the Board of the Jane and John Marks Foundation. The Foundation’s fundamental goal is to provide STEAM related training and access to underexposed individuals and communities.

John R. Marks, III received his B.S. degree in 1969 from the Florida State University School of Business and his Juris Doctorate in 1972 from the Florida State University College of Law, and is a member of the Florida Bar. He was elected mayor of the city of Tallahassee in March 2003 and served in that capacity until November 2014. He also was a member of the Board of Trustees of the US Conference of Mayors and a member of the National League of Cities.
